Comparison of the optimal water-alternating-gas injection strategies using 1-D and 2-D reservoir simulations

Emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, in particular, carbon dioxide (CO2), are an urgent environmental problem. Today, technology capture and storage (CCS) oil reservoirs is proposed as a solution to this This can not only assist with decarbonization near-Earth space, but also contributes increase recovery. Since CO2 part that accompany production, release associated petroleum unacceptable their burning harmful environment. Thus, gas injection more environmentally economically beneficial. In work, we compare optimal strategies flooding within framework 1-D 2-D compositional modeling. The optimization criterion maximization economic profit, i.e. Net Present Value (NPV). For different determine injected volume water, at which NPV maximum. We consider alternative criterion, based on retaining maximum reservoir. grid convergence numerical studied. results simulation demonstrate obtained by simulations qualitatively agree those simulations, makes it possible modeling appropriate determining for dispersed water gas.
